Teachers in Woro and neighboring communities in Kwara State’s Kaiama Local Government Area have refused to resume classes after a school principal, Mr. Salami, was killed in a terrorist attack.

The attack, linked to a Sadiku-led Boko Haram faction, has prompted authorities to shut schools indefinitely due to worsening insecurity.

Residents describe the atmosphere as tense and uncertain, with classrooms deserted and doors locked.

The killing of the principal has created widespread panic among education workers, who fear they could be next targets. “They hate Western education and see teachers as enemies,” a teacher said ².

Community leaders confirm the shutdown extends beyond Woro, affecting multiple communities.

The absence of security personnel has left schools exposed, forcing educators to suspend academic activities. Children are now roaming streets instead of learning, with parents lamenting the loss of education.
