President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police (IGP) at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
The ceremony, which preceded the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and other senior government officials.
Disu, who has been serving in an acting capacity since February 24, 2026, succeeds Kayode Egbetokun. He was confirmed by the Nigeria Police Council on Monday, March 2, 2026.
The new IGP has vowed to discontinue impunity and prioritize the welfare of police officers and their training for effective policing.
