President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri and take charge of the situation following deadly explosions that rocked the Borno State capital, leaving at least 23 people dead and 108 injured.
The attacks, suspected to be carried out by terrorists, occurred at three locations across Maiduguri, including the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the Monday Market.
Tinubu has also ordered emergency agencies to provide immediate care for the injured and vowed decisive action against the terrorists.
He described the incidents as “deeply upsetting” and said they reflect desperate attempts by terrorist groups under sustained pressure from Nigerian forces ¹.
The President commended the bravery of Nigerian troops and civilian task forces who repelled coordinated assaults on military formations in the state and assured Nigerians that the government remains resolute in its determination to defeat insurgency and restore lasting peace.
