Bola Tinubu has returned to Lagos in the early hours of Friday after a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.
According to his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President arrived at about 1:15 a.m. at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport alongside the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.
They were received by top government officials and party leaders, including Femi Hamzat and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as members of the All Progressives Congress.
The President is expected to join Muslim faithful later in the day to observe Eid al-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks.
In his Sallah message, Tinubu urged Nigerians to uphold the values of Ramadan, including piety, compassion, perseverance and unity beyond the fasting period.
During the visit, Tinubu held bilateral talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street, where both countries agreed on a £746 million deal to refurbish two major ports in Lagos.
He described the trip as significant, noting that discussions covered key areas such as trade, economic cooperation, climate change, security and global challenges.
The President and First Lady were also hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle, where he reaffirmed the strong historical ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
The visit featured a ceremonial reception, including a guard of honour and a 42-gun salute, as well as engagements with members of the Nigerian diaspora and business leaders.
Several agreements were also signed during the trip, covering trade, investment, defence cooperation, cultural exchange and energy transition between both countries.
