Libya’s Sharara oilfield is expected to return to normal production levels within 48 hours, following a shutdown caused by a pipeline explosion earlier this month.

The field, which has a capacity of 300,000 to 320,000 barrels per day, was gradually shut down after the incident.

The Sharara oilfield is one of Libya’s largest production areas and is linked to the country’s 120,000 bpd Zawiya refinery, located about 40 km west of Tripoli.

The shutdown has caused disruptions to Libya’s oil production, which has been subject to repeated closures due to political and technical issues.
