Wadada currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the 10th Senate and chairs the Senate Committee on Public Accounts. He recently defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC amid speculation about his governorship ambition.

Wadada hails from Keffi in Nasarawa West. Governor Sule has been pushing for the western zone to produce the next governor, noting it last held the seat when Sen. Abdullahi Adamu governed from 1999 to 2007. The southern and northern zones have produced governors in subsequent years, with Sule himself coming from the northern zone.
