An Ogun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Sagamu has adjourned the trial of Adeniyi Mobolaji, the driver involved in the road crash linked to former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, to June 2, 2026.

The case, presided over by Magistrate Olufunilayo Somefun, has been adjourned multiple times to allow the prosecution to file an amended charge.

Mobolaji faces four counts, including dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, causing bodily harm, damage to property, and driving without a valid licence.

The prosecution counsel, G. O. Ogunyomi, requested the adjournment, which was not opposed by the defence. Defence counsel Abiodun Olalekan said the move was necessary to ensure justice for all parties involved.

The 46-year-old defendant was involved in the December 29, 2025 accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where a Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck.

The crash resulted in the deaths of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, while Joshua and the driver sustained minor injuries.

The incident drew widespread reactions within the boxing community, with the remains of the deceased later repatriated to the United Kingdom for burial.
