The Supreme Court has affirmed the David Mark-led faction as the authentic leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ending a prolonged legal battle over the party’s national executive.
In a judgment delivered on Thursday, April 30, 2026, the apex court set aside conflicting lower court rulings and held that the convention that produced the Mark-led National Working Committee complied with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
The ruling validates all decisions taken by the Mark faction, including candidate nominations, and directs the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize it as the legitimate leadership of the ADC.
