The Federal Government has rescheduled the planned closure of Eko Bridge in Lagos to Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to allow for repairs on the UBA–Apongbon–Ijora corridor.
The closure was initially set for midnight on May 12 but was postponed after consultations between the Lagos Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, and the Federal Controller of Works, Engr. Olufemi Dare.
According to the FRSC Lagos Sector Command, the decision followed a review of operational plans and public safety concerns around the project. The closure will now begin at 12:00 midnight on May 19.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes, including UBA–Outer Marina–Third Mainland Bridge–Egbelẹta and adjoining corridors. FRSC and other traffic agencies will be deployed to manage congestion and enforce diversions during the rehabilitation period.
