Several aspirants, including the younger brother of late former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the son-in-law of businessman Chief Kola Daisi, have been disqualified from contesting in the All Progressives Congress senatorial primaries in Oyo State.
Screening documents show that Ajimobi Wasiu Adegboyega, who sought the Oyo North ticket, was not cleared by the party’s screening panel. Also disqualified was Kolapoboye Kola-Daisi, Ajimobi’s son-in-law and aspirant for the Oyo South Senatorial District ticket.
Other aspirants declared “not cleared” are Ademola Wasiu Alli, Hussaini Yusuf, Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen, Hon. Hameed Afeez Repete, and Ambassador Pastor Akinremi Alade Bolaji, covering the Oyo Central and Oyo South districts.
The APC has cleared other candidates to contest, including Prof. Adeolu Olumide Akande and Hannah O. Ogunesan for Oyo North; Hon. Aderemi Abari Oseni for Oyo South; Senator Yunus Akinwade for Oyo Central; and retired Col. Dr. Gbenga Adegbota for Oyo North.
The party has not publicly stated the reasons for the disqualifications. Party sources said the screening covered eligibility, documentation, and compliance with internal guidelines.
The decision is expected to alter the contest ahead of the primaries, with reactions already emerging within APC circles over the exclusion of several high-profile contenders.
