Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw has named a 28-man preliminary squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup, with Sadio Mane included among the selected players.
The Al-Nassr forward returns to the World Cup setup after missing the 2022 tournament in Qatar due to a knee injury despite initially being named in the squad.
Mane will lead Senegal’s attacking options alongside Nicolas Jackson, Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr as the West African side prepares for the global competition.
The squad also includes experienced midfielder Idrissa Gueye, as well as Habib Diarra and Pape Matar Sarr.

In defence, Senegal will rely on experienced names such as Kalidou Koulibaly alongside a mix of emerging talents.
Coach Thiaw is expected to reduce the provisional squad to FIFA’s required 26-man final list before the June 2 deadline.
Senegal will begin their World Cup campaign against France in New Jersey on June 16 before taking on Norway on June 22 and Iraq on June 26.
The expanded 48-team tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19.
