The Christian Association of Nigeria has declared Sunday, June 14, 2026, as “Black Sunday” to mourn victims of terrorist attacks across the country, with three days of national prayers set from June 12 to 14.

Speaking after the National Church Denominational Leadership Summit 2026, CAN National Chairman Archbishop Daniel Okoh said prayers alone cannot solve Nigeria’s security crisis and called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on insecurity, accelerate the rollout of state police, decentralize security structures for quicker response, and ensure the unconditional release of all kidnapped victims with justice served.
