Adegunwa-Balogun, who hails from Ososa in Ogun East Senatorial District, is the daughter of prominent businessman, philanthropist and industrialist, Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa.

Speaking at the event, Adeola described his running mate as a disciplined, upright and experienced professional who would work with him to advance the development of Ogun State and build on the achievements of the current administration.

He said her emergence followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state, stressing that the selection process was thorough and aimed at strengthening the party’s chances in the 2027 election.

“I am delighted to present Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as my running mate and partner in our mission to take Ogun State to the next level,” Adeola said.

The unveiling comes about two months after Adeola emerged as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate and was subsequently ratified through the party’s direct primary election conducted across the state’s 236 wards.

At the gathering, Governor Abiodun moved a motion for the adoption of Adegunwa-Balogun as the party’s deputy governorship candidate. The motion received unanimous approval from stakeholders through a voice vote.

In her acceptance remarks, Adegunwa-Balogun expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abiodun, Senator Adeola and APC leaders for the confidence reposed in her.

She pledged to justify the trust placed in her and work with the governorship candidate to advance the party’s vision for Ogun State ahead of the 2027 polls.
