A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna State has adjourned the trial of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to June 24, 2026.
The case, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), borders on allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct during his tenure as governor.
El-Rufai, who was present in court at the resumed hearing on Monday, arrived at about 9:30am in the company of ICPC officials as well as operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police.

His legal team has consistently denied all allegations, maintaining his innocence and challenging the charges before the court.
During earlier proceedings, arguments had focused largely on bail applications and related motions. The former governor was granted bail on April 14, 2026, in the sum of ₦200 million, with conditions requiring two sureties, including a senior civil servant or traditional ruler.
Although his lawyers later sought a variation of the bail terms, a Kaduna State High Court had previously declined a separate bail application in the matter, citing concerns over possible interference with investigations.
At Monday’s sitting, the court was expected to continue hearing motions from both prosecution and defence, but proceedings could not fully go on due to the absence of two co-defendants.
The presiding judge subsequently adjourned the matter to June 24, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
