The EFCC has put former Kaduna South councillor Theophilus Madami back in court over allegations of defrauding a supplier of N16.08 million in pasta products.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned Madami before Justice A. Isiaka at the Kaduna State High Court. He faces a one-count charge of obtaining by false pretence, criminal breach of trust, and criminal misappropriation.
Prosecutors allege that on November 5, 2018, Madami deceived Ibrahim Ringim Haruna of Pyramid Supplies and Services Limited. He allegedly claimed the Kaduna South Local Government needed 4,020 cartons of pasta worth N16,080,000, knowing the claim was false.
Madami pleaded not guilty. EFCC counsel Y.J. Matiyak asked the court to remand him at the Kaduna Correctional Centre until trial. Defence counsel B.E. Gwadah made an oral bail application, which the prosecution opposed.
Justice Isiaka adjourned the case to Wednesday, July 22, 2026, for a ruling on bail. In the meantime, the court ordered Madami remanded in a correctional facility.
This is not Madami’s first appearance. He was initially arraigned in 2019 over the same N16.08 million. The EFCC said it recovered N5 million from the alleged proceeds and returned it to Pyramid Supplies Services Limited.
