The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced the final 12-man squad for D’Tigers ahead of the second window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers scheduled to take place in Luanda, Angola, from July 2 to 5.

The squad features the return of center Chimezie Metu, Caleb Agada, and experienced guards Ikenna Iroegbu and Stan Okoye as Nigeria looks to revive its qualification campaign.

The final roster includes Ikenna Iroegbu, Uchenna Iroegbu, Caleb Agada, Paul Dibal, Stan Okoye, Daniel Utomi, Martins Igbanu, Chimezie Metu, Wesley Iwundu, Christian Mekowulu, Michael Eric, and Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu.

D’Tigers will begin their campaign in the second qualifying window with a crucial fixture against Tunisia on Thursday, July 2, as they seek to improve their chances of securing a place at the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The qualifiers will also mark the first assignment for newly appointed head coach David Fizdale, who takes charge of the Nigerian men’s national team for the first time.

The 52-year-old American brings extensive coaching experience, having spent more than two decades in the NBA as both an assistant coach and head coach across several franchises.

Nigeria will be hoping the blend of experienced returnees and established stars can inspire a strong performance in Angola as the race for World Cup qualification intensifies.
