Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers opened their FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers campaign with a hard-fought 84-81 victory over Tunisia.

The win marked a positive start for head coach David Fizdale and his team as they began the latest qualification window with an important victory against one of Africa’s basketball heavyweights.

D’Tigers displayed resilience and determination throughout the closely contested encounter, holding off a late challenge from Tunisia to secure the three-point win.

The victory gives Nigeria an early boost in the race for a place at the FIBA Basketball World Cup and strengthens the team’s qualification hopes.

Nigeria will now shift focus to their remaining fixtures in the qualification window, taking on Guinea on July 3 before facing Rwanda on July 5 as they continue their quest for a place at the global tournament.
