Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has threatened a N10 billion defamation suit against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC.

In a letter dated July 7, signed by his counsel Kemi Pinheiro, Gbajabiamila demanded that Adeyemi take down all videos where he made the allegations and publish a full retraction and apology in at least five national newspapers and across all social media platforms where the June 26 press conference was circulated.

The lawyer described the claims as “false, malicious, reckless and entirely without factual foundation,” saying they were intended to portray Gbajabiamila as “corrupt, morally bankrupt, and a murderer.” The letter also stated that Gbajabiamila and Adeyemi have never met or interacted.

Pinheiro warned that failure to comply within 72 hours would lead to legal action without further notice.

The dispute comes after the presidency distanced itself from the PFIPC in June, stating that the body does not exist under the current administration and that Gbajabiamila did not appoint Adeyemi.

At his June 26 press conference, Adeyemi questioned how PFIPC appeared in the 2026 budget if it does not exist. He alleged that Gbajabiamila received N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million for his appointment.

He also called for an investigation into the death of Babatunde Tanimola, described as an intermediary, and claimed attempts had been made on his life.
