Four armed men stormed a residence in Kobape, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday night, abducting two people and shooting a third.
The attack happened around 7:00 p.m. at the home’s entrance. According to a family member, Tosin, resident Olayinka Obadimu was about to leave when Al-haqq Shobakin came out to open the gate. The gunmen confronted them immediately.
Obadimu managed to drive off despite gunshots. Shobakin was hit and is now receiving treatment at a private hospital in Abeokuta.
The attackers then took Kelvin Ayobami Moyegun and Kehinde Rufai away.
“We have reported to the police, Amotekun Corps and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,” Tosin said on Friday. “We are hoping they help us bring our loved ones back.”
Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident. He said operatives have been deployed to rescue the victims and arrest the suspects.
The command recently carried out similar operations. Through sustained pressure by its Anti-Kidnapping Unit, police secured the release of Prince Idris, an abducted prince of Okun-Owa in Odogbolu LGA. Two members of that kidnapping gang were later killed in follow-up operations.
