The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Bello Bodejo, National President of Miyetti Allah Kauta Kore, in a case involving alleged money laundering of $2.63 million.
In a ruling on Monday, July 20, 2026, Justice Inyang Ekwo set bail at N2 billion and required two sureties in the same amount.
The judge gave specific conditions. One surety must live in Abuja and provide three years of tax clearance to the court. The second surety must own land in Abuja valued at N2 billion.
Justice Ekwo also ordered Bodejo to submit his international passport to the court registrar and barred him from traveling outside Nigeria without court approval.
The judge noted that the charges are bailable under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, and that the court has discretion to grant bail.
The matter was adjourned to October 5, October 6, and October 7 for the start of trial.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Bodejo was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on June 25, on a charge filed a day earlier. He pleaded not guilty to all counts.
On July 9, Justice Ekwo had ordered that Bodejo be remanded in EFCC custody pending the bail hearing.
EFCC counsel Wahab Shittu, SAN, is prosecuting the case. Bodejo is represented by Ahmed Raji, SAN, who argued the bail application filed on June 30.
The case continues in October.
