Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of Ghana international right-back Tariq Lamptey on a free transfer following his departure from Italian Serie A club Fiorentina.
The 25-year-old joined Fiorentina from Brighton in September 2025 but made just two appearances for the club after suffering a serious knee injury.
Lamptey began his professional career at Chelsea, where he made his Premier League debut against Arsenal, before moving to Brighton. He went on to make more than 120 appearances for the Seagulls.
The defender said he was pleased with his recovery and eager to begin the next chapter of his career with QPR.
“My recovery from injury has gone well and I’m not too far away now. I’m looking forward to joining up with the boys,” Lamptey said.
“Throughout my football journey, I’ve always been resilient.”
Lamptey represented England at youth level before switching his international allegiance to Ghana. He has earned 11 senior caps for the Black Stars and featured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
QPR chief executive Christian Nourry welcomed the arrival of the experienced full-back, saying the club had held positive discussions with the player about his ambitions.
“We’ve had good conversations about what he wants to achieve and how he feels that this is the right environment for him to flourish in,” Nourry said.
He added that Lamptey’s decision to join QPR ahead of several other Championship and overseas clubs demonstrated the growing appeal and potential of the London-based side.
QPR did not disclose the length or financial terms of Lamptey’s contract.
The club will begin their new Championship campaign away to Portsmouth on Saturday, August 15.
