The Muslim Society of Lagos extolled the late cleric’s remarkable contributions to the growth of Islam, noting that he was a respected voice of wisdom, unity and compassion. The society said his commitment to promoting peace, fostering religious harmony and strengthening Islamic institutions earned him admiration across the country.

Until his passing, Alhaji Gbajabiamila served as the Vice-President of the League of Imams and Alfas (Rabita) in Yorubaland and was also a member of its Board of Trustees. He was the Chief Imam of the historic Brazilian-Olosun Mosque on Luther Street, Lagos Island, where he faithfully discharged his spiritual responsibilities and mentored countless worshippers.

The Muslim Society of Lagos noted that throughout his lifetime, the late Islamic leader remained steadfast in the service of Allah and humanity, dedicating himself to the propagation of Islamic values, moral uprightness and communal progress.

His Janazah (funeral prayers) was held at the Iponri Central Mosque and the Lagos Central Mosque/Brazilian-Olosun Mosque, drawing family members, Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, government officials and faithful from different walks of life who gathered to honour his enduring legacy.

The society prayed that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and gives his family, the Muslim Ummah and all those he touched the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
