The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced plans to conduct a mock accreditation exercise ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
The exercise, scheduled for Saturday, August 1, will take place at designated polling units across 12 local government areas in the state’s three senatorial districts.
In a statement signed by Ariyo Rufus, Head of the Department of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, INEC said the selected local government areas include Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun and Boripe in Osun Central.
Others are Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South and Ejigbo in Osun West, as well as Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Oriade and Obokun in Osun East.
The commission explained that the exercise is aimed at testing the functionality and efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System under conditions similar to those expected on Election Day.
INEC stressed that no voting will take place during the mock accreditation exercise.
The electoral body urged registered voters in the selected polling units to participate in the exercise with their Permanent Voter Cards.
INEC also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive governorship election in Osun State.
