Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major operational breakthrough following the surrender of a senior Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) finance operative and 46 other terrorists and their family members in Borno State.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Theatre Command, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement, saying the development reflects the growing impact of sustained military operations against terrorist groups in the North-East.

According to Goni, the ISWAP operative surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion under 24 Task Force Brigade at about 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis of the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route.

The operative reportedly surrendered alongside two male children.

Preliminary profiling revealed that he served as the Chief Finance Operative of the ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram, where he was allegedly responsible for managing the group’s financial activities and logistics.

The military attributed his decision to surrender to recent coordinated land and air offensives conducted by Operation Hadin Kai against terrorist enclaves.

Items recovered from the suspect included an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle and ₦40,000 in cash.

Captain Goni said the suspect is currently undergoing detailed profiling and interrogation as the military seeks to obtain actionable intelligence that could support ongoing operations and help target other remaining terrorist elements.

The latest surrender is part of what the military described as a growing wave of defections, with about 46 terrorists and their family members reportedly surrendering to troops in recent days amid intensified pressure on terrorist strongholds across the region.
