The naira recorded another slight decline against the dollar at the Central Bank of Nigeria’s official FX window on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Data published on the CBN’s Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market platform showed the naira traded at N1,366.7140 per dollar, down from N1,365.5303 recorded on Tuesday. That represents a drop of about N1.18 in a single day. The currency closed the session at N1,366.5000.
The fresh dip continues the pressure on the local currency at the official market. It also comes a day after the naira had shed N3.3 against the dollar.
In the parallel market, the picture was mixed. According to Aboki FX, street traders bought the dollar at N1,407, up N2 from Tuesday’s rate, while the selling rate held steady at N1,415.
That puts the gap between the official and black market rates at about N40 for buying and N48 for selling.
Key rates at a glance:
- Official CBN/NFEM: N1,366.7140, closed N1,366.5000
- Previous day official: N1,365.5303

The movement comes amid ongoing market reforms that have drawn comments from global investors, including JP Morgan, on Nigeria’s FX liberalization efforts.
