Suspected Lakurawa militants struck Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Monday afternoon, killing three people and damaging local security infrastructure.
According to accounts shared Tuesday by security analyst Bakatsine and attributed to local sources, the gunmen opened fire in the community and shot dead a police officer identified as Hussaini Manyu. An elderly man, Bala Wakili, was also killed, and a young herder was reportedly murdered after refusing to hand over his cattle. A farmer working on his farm was shot and injured during the raid.
The attackers set fire to a Police Hilux patrol vehicle and a Community Guard Hilux, destroying key assets used for local security. They also rustled an unspecified number of cattle before leaving the area.
Residents alleged that the militants beat a married woman after she resisted an attempted sexual assault during the invasion.
The attack has renewed frustration in Kebbe over repeated violence, with community members saying killings, cattle theft and destruction of property continue with little protection.
Bakatsine summarized the incident in a Tuesday post: Lakurawa militants killed officer Hussaini Manyu, killed elder Bala Wakili, killed a herder for refusing to surrender cattle, shot a farmer, burnt two Hilux vehicles belonging to police and community guards, rustled cattle, and assaulted a woman who resisted.
The latest violence adds to growing concern about armed groups operating across parts of northern Nigeria, where communities report frequent attacks involving killings, rustling and property destruction.
