Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress national campaign council for the August 15 Osun governorship election.
Uzodimma, who heads the 276-member council, met with members on Monday at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. The APC also set up 12 subcommittees to coordinate activities for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Speaking at the meeting, Uzodimma said the goal is work, not celebration.
“The plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun state to win the forthcoming election. This meeting is not for merrymaking. It’s not for any jamboree. It is for people to come and offer service,” he said.
He directed all subcommittee chairmen to meet immediately and send their resolutions and proposals to the council’s national secretary before Thursday. According to him, the submissions will help the central working committee provide needed support for the campaign.
“We have only one mission — to win the election. Everything can come after the elections,” Uzodimma added.
He also said the finance subcommittee will receive voluntary contributions from party members and other supporters.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who serves as secretary of the council, said the APC is confident of victory.
“With the overwhelming support of the good people of Osun state across all 30 local government areas, we are confident that, by the grace of God, our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will emerge victorious in the governorship election scheduled for August 15 by INEC,” Jibrin said.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026.
