Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inspected a vandalised bridge pole at Vin-Niger, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in Amuwo-Odofin, assuring residents that the structure remains safe for use.

Sanwo-Olu, who visited the site following reports of vandalism, said the fittings removed by suspected vandals had been excavated and taken away.

However, he stressed that the incident did not affect the structural integrity of the bridge.

The governor warned that the state government would pursue those responsible for the vandalism, including individuals involved in the purchase and sale of stolen public infrastructure materials.

Sanwo-Olu also expressed concern over the growing vandalism of public infrastructure in Festac Town, citing the destruction of drainage slabs and the theft of iron rods.

He urged residents to take ownership of public infrastructure by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.

The governor commended the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad, Neighbourhood Watch and Kick Against Indiscipline officials for their swift response to the incident.

Sanwo-Olu said the inspection was part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to clean up the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor, safeguard public infrastructure and enhance the safety of motorists and other road users.
