Nigeria Premier Football League champions, Rangers, will begin the defence of their title on Sunday when they host Katsina United in one of the standout fixtures of the 2026/27 season’s opening weekend.

The Flying Antelopes secured the league title last season after a closely fought campaign, finishing top with 59 points.
Rangers will be hoping to start their title defence on a winning note as they target a second consecutive league crown.

However, they face a determined Katsina United side looking to upset the champions and make an early statement in the new campaign.
The fixture is one of 10 matches scheduled for the opening round of the 2026/27 NPFL season across the country.
While Rangers will be seeking maximum points to set the tone for their title defence, Katsina United will aim to return home with a positive result against the defending champions.
A victory for either side could provide an important early boost as both teams begin their respective campaigns.
