President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has carried out a major shake-up at the Ministry of Justice and across several government agencies.
In appointments announced Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Cllr. Betty M. Lamin-Blamo was named Minister of Justice. She replaces outgoing Minister Oswald N. Tweh. Cllr. Abrahim Boimah Sillah, Sr. was also named Solicitor General, taking over from Augustine Fayiah.
The Executive Mansion said both Tweh and Fayiah will be reassigned to other roles in government.
The changes were not limited to the justice sector. Boakai also announced new leadership for key ministries and commissions aimed at improving government performance:
- Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection: Ms. Angel M. Morris appointed Deputy Minister for Public Affairs, and Mr. Harrison K. Sorsor named Assistant Minister for Research, Policy and Planning.
- Public Procurement and Concessions Commission: Mr. Alex Chersia Grant named Commissioner.
- Ministry of Local Government: Mr. Christopher Ben Bailey appointed Superintendent of Grand Gedeh County.
- National Transit Authority: Mr. Benedict Yeke Harleysion, Sr. reappointed Chairman of the Board.
In its statement, the Executive Mansion said the reshuffle is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutions and improve public service delivery.
The appointments come amid heightened public focus on justice and accountability in Liberia, including ongoing debates over high-profile drug cases and governance reforms.
