The National Open University of Nigeria has named Ramatu Ibrahim as acting bursar following the death of Nasir Marafa.
The appointment was approved by Vice-Chancellor Uduma Uduma and Pro-Chancellor Isa Yuguda, and announced on Tuesday by Registrar Oladipo Ajayi. It takes effect immediately.
According to Omotola Ojudu, acting director of media and publicity, the decision was made to ensure continuity and stable leadership in the university’s financial administration.
Ibrahim previously served as Deputy Bursar, Treasury. The university said she has worked across major units in the Bursary Department and has extensive experience in accounting, financial management, treasury operations, and related administrative processes.
Management expressed confidence that she will carry out the responsibilities with professionalism, diligence, integrity, and institutional commitment.
Marafa was shot dead on Sunday by gunmen while returning from Gusau, the Zamfara state capital.
