The Habiba Charity Foundation has provided food to more than 600 less privileged residents of Ago-Ika in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of its ongoing efforts to support vulnerable members of the community.
The outreach, held on Tuesday, marked the foundation’s third street feeding programme in the past two years and brought together hundreds of residents who benefited from the charitable initiative.
As part of the programme, the foundation slaughtered a cow, with the meat prepared and served alongside Eba and Amala to more than 600 beneficiaries.
The initiative provided a meal for residents who may otherwise have struggled to afford one, while also creating an opportunity for members of the community to come together and share in the gesture of goodwill.
The beneficiaries expressed joy and appreciation to the foundation, describing the outreach as a welcome intervention for people facing financial difficulties.
Speaking on the initiative, the Founder and Chairman of the Habiba Charity Foundation, Rasheed Ismail, called on other non-governmental organisations, philanthropists and well-meaning individuals to support programmes targeted at improving the lives of vulnerable people.
Ismail said charitable interventions should not be left to a few organisations, stressing the importance of collective efforts in addressing the needs of less privileged people in communities.
The foundation’s latest outreach underscores the role of community-based charitable initiatives in providing immediate assistance to vulnerable residents while encouraging greater participation in efforts to uplift the less privileged.
