A violent altercation in the Egyptian border town of Taba on Friday left three Arab Israeli tourists and two Egyptian hotel workers injured, according to Egyptian security sources.

The confrontation reportedly began when an Arab Israeli tourist verbally insulted a hotel employee, triggering a physical fight that quickly escalated to involve other tourists and staff members.

Egypt’s state-affiliated Al-Qahera News channel reported that one of the Egyptian workers sustained serious injuries. The incident was also linked to a dispute over payment for hotel services, with several tourists allegedly refusing to pay.

This clash comes amid heightened tensions following the outbreak of war in Gaza on October 7. Since then, there have been sporadic attacks on Israelis in Egypt, including the shooting deaths of two Israeli tourists and their Egyptian guide by a policeman in Alexandria, just one day after the conflict began.
