The project aims to generate approximately 50 megawatts (MW) of cleaner and more affordable electricity. Solar power systems will be installed at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Lagos State University of Education, and Lagos State College of Medicine. This initiative is expected to significantly decrease the institutions’ reliance on grid electricity and fossil fuels, advancing environmental sustainability.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the initiative highlights Lagos State’s dedication to integrating sustainable energy solutions into its economic development strategy.

President Tinubu, who witnessed the signing, praised the collaboration as crucial for Nigeria’s energy transition, aligning with Lagos State’s vision of leading in renewable energy adoption, bolstering energy security, and reducing its carbon footprint.
