Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur has announced an early end to her 2024 tennis season due to a persistent shoulder injury.

The three-time Grand Slam runner-up, currently ranked 22nd in the world, has faced ongoing fitness issues throughout the year. She withdrew from tournaments in Cincinnati, Washington, and the U.S. Open due to a shoulder problem, after already missing the Paris Olympics over knee concerns.

“This year has been extremely hard for me, and as athletes, we know that recovery is part of the journey,” Jabeur shared on social media. “Due to my ongoing shoulder injury, my medical team and I have made the difficult decision to step off the tennis circuit for the rest of the season.”
The former world number two said she plans to focus on charitable projects while recovering and aims to return to competition in Australia early next year.
