Following protests against President Azali Assoumani’s re-election in Comoros, internet access has been cut, and clashes with police in Moroni have left one person dead and six injured.

The capital’s roads are blocked, protesters have been arrested, and a nighttime curfew is in place to quell unrest.

The electoral commission declared Assoumani’s 63% victory, sparking violent opposition protests and widespread vandalism.

Internet services are disrupted, with WhatsApp calls blocked and mobile messages restricted to hinder communication among demonstrators.

Health officials reported casualties, including a 21-year-old killed during the protests. Despite opposition claims of fraud, Assoumani’s victory is likely to be confirmed by the Supreme Court.
