In response to mounting pressure for a cabinet shake-up, President Bola Tinubu dismissed five ministers on Wednesday and reassigned 10 others to different ministerial portfolios.
Additionally, the president nominated seven new ministers, whose appointments will be sent to the Senate for confirmation.
Among those relieved of their duties are Uju-Ken Ohanenye, former Minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, former Minister of Tourism; Tahir Mamman, former Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo, former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Jamila Ibrahim, former Minister of Youth Development.
In a series of new appointments, Shehu Dikko was named Chairman of the National Sports Commission, while Sunday Akin Dare was appointed Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation, operating within the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
This cabinet reshuffle comes months after calls for reform, signaling a move toward re-energizing Tinubu’s administration.
