Residents of Bloemfontein in the Free State have looted foreign-owned spaza shops following an incident where 47 students from Ihobe Primary School were rushed to Pelonomi Hospital.

The students reportedly fell ill after consuming expired biscuits and chocolates, allegedly purchased from some of these shops.
