The Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services, in partnership with the State Primary Health Care Board (SPHCB) and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), has announced the start of a 12-day mass vaccination campaign against Yellow Fever across all 17 local government areas. The campaign, supported by various development partners, will run from Tuesday, November 12, to Monday, November 25, 2024.

According to a statement from Ali Musa Yawale, Director of Information Services at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, the vaccination initiative will target residents aged 9 months to 44 years. Vaccination sites will be set up at designated locations throughout communities to ensure broad access.

This campaign aims to achieve 85% coverage across the state, providing vital protection against Yellow Fever, a preventable yet deadly disease that affects hundreds of thousands globally each year, with an estimated 10,000 fatalities annually.

The public, including community leaders and stakeholders, are urged to support the trained health officials during the campaign, which is expected to be one of the largest vaccination efforts in Yobe State’s history.
