In a compelling display of support, members of the Algerian parliament fervently called upon President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to consider seeking a second term during their deliberations on a momentous Monday.

“If Allah gives me enough health,” he told them, stopping short of a formal announcement about the presidential election due at the end of 2024.

Having assumed office in December 2019, President Tebboune’s initial five-year term showcased a vision for leadership, and the constitutional provisions allow for the possibility of a second and conclusive term.

This parliamentary encouragement not only reflects confidence in Tebboune’s governance but also underscores the pivotal role he is perceived to play in the nation’s trajectory.

The political landscape in Algeria resonates with anticipation as discussions on the potential continuation of Tebboune’s presidency unfold against the backdrop of constitutional legitimacy and the complex challenges facing the country.
