KRC Genk’s Head of Football, Dimitri De Condé, has dismissed any possibility of parting ways with the club’s key players, including Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare, during the January transfer window.

Arokodare has recently been linked with English Premier League side Fulham, who are reportedly looking to strengthen their attack mid-season. The Cottagers currently have Raúl Jiménez and Rodrigo Muniz as center-forward options but are exploring additional reinforcements, sparking interest in the in-form Genk striker.

Genk signed Arokodare from French side Amiens in January 2023 following the departure of Nigerian international Paul Onuachu to Southampton. Despite an injury setback early in his Genk career, the 24-year-old rebounded strongly, playing a crucial role in helping the club secure a spot in the Jupiler Pro League play-offs last season, scoring 12 goals.

This season, Arokodare has elevated his game, netting nine goals in 15 league appearances, trailing only Kasper Dolberg of RSC Anderlecht in the league’s top-scorer chart.

Speaking to TVL Sportcafé via Voetbalnieuws, De Condé made it clear that Genk is determined to retain their star striker. “Tolu is not allowed to leave,” De Condé stated. “He is very grateful to our trainer and will not leave Fink or Genk so easily.”

Fulham’s reported interest comes as Arokodare continues to showcase his goal-scoring prowess, but Genk’s firm stance signals their intention to keep their attacking talisman as they aim to maintain their strong league campaign.
