The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced plans to refund more than ₦95 million to 1,572 pilgrims who performed the 2023 Hajj, due to services that were not rendered during the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Director-General of the board, Ahmad Labbo, made this known during a press briefing in Dutse on Thursday. He explained that each beneficiary will receive ₦61,080, which will be credited directly to their bank accounts.

“This refund pertains to the 2023 Hajj exercise. The total amount to be disbursed is ₦95,156,680, to be shared among 1,572 pilgrims. Each pilgrim will receive ₦61,080,” Mr. Labbo stated.
The director-general added that the board’s zonal officers have been tasked with collecting bank account details from beneficiaries in their respective areas to facilitate the refunds.
“As soon as the process is complete, all eligible pilgrims will receive the specified amount in their accounts,” he assured.
This refund aims to compensate for services promised but not delivered during the Hajj, ensuring accountability and transparency in the board’s operations.
