On Wednesday, Sudan’s military leader, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met with South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, to discuss bilateral cooperation on oil, trade, and border security.
The high-level meeting, held in an atmosphere reflecting the robust ties between the two nations, underscored their commitment to strengthening economic and security partnerships.
General Al-Burhan’s visit to Juba was framed as part of the ongoing efforts to consolidate the strong relationship between Sudan and South Sudan.
During the discussions, General Al-Burhan briefed President Kiir on the progress made by Sudan’s armed forces, regular forces, and joint security personnel in stabilizing the country.
The meeting also emphasized cooperation on shared challenges, particularly regarding border security and the management of oil resources, which remain critical to both nations’ economies.
Present at the meeting were Sudan’s Minister for Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohi-Eddin El-Naeem, and the Director General of the Intelligence Service, General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal. Their participation highlighted the focus on fostering collaboration in energy and intelligence to bolster regional stability.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and promoting development in both nations, emphasizing the need for continued dialogue and joint initiatives to tackle mutual challenges.
