Kenya’s Cabinet, chaired by President William Ruto, has approved defense cooperation agreements with Ghana, France, and Turkey as part of efforts to enhance the nation’s global partnerships and safeguard sovereignty.

In a statement released by State House on Tuesday, the Cabinet highlighted that the agreements mark a new chapter in defense collaboration. The cooperation will focus on joint training, protecting shared interests, and exchanging personnel to advance professional development and defense industry expertise.

The Cabinet also endorsed measures to modernize the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) System to address stakeholder concerns and accommodate rising tourist arrivals.

In higher education, the government approved an eight-point transformation strategy for the University of Nairobi to foster innovation, strengthen global academic partnerships, and enhance research performance, reinforcing Kenya’s institutions of higher learning.

Additionally, Kenya will join the Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA), an initiative under the African Development Bank, to promote intra-African trade, industrialization, and export growth.

Finally, the Cabinet ratified a comprehensive security plan for the festive season, urging citizens to exercise caution and prioritize safety during the holidays.
