The Libyan Football Federation has appointed Senegalese Legend, Aliou Cisse as the new head coach of the national team.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Tuesday, the federation welcomed Cisse, describing him as “the best coach in Africa.” The 48-year-old Senegalese tactician, who led Senegal to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 2022, will take charge of Libya until 2027.
Cisse replaces Nasser Al-Hadhiri, who had been appointed in September 2024. The federation did not disclose details regarding his contract or salary.
He is set to be officially presented to the media on March 13 in Tripoli before beginning his tenure.
Although Libya failed to qualify for the upcoming AFCON in Morocco, they currently sit second in their World Cup qualifying group and are preparing for a crucial match against Angola later this month.
