President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe as the Chairman of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
This appointment, announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, took effect on March 11, 2025, and will be for an initial term of four years.
Dr. Oloriegbe, a former Kwara Central Senator, boasts an impressive background in health and politics.
He served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health from 2019 to 2023 and the Chairman of the Joint National Assembly Committee on Health.
His educational credentials include a Master’s in Coaching and Consultation from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery from Ahmadu Bello University.
As a respected member of various health organizations, including the Nigerian Medical Association and the International Aids Society, Dr. Oloriegbe is well-equipped to lead the NHIA in its mission to provide accessible healthcare to Nigerians.
