The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Julius Mangai, a 45-year-old vigilante chairman of Butura Kampani Village in Bokkos Local Government Area.
Intelligence sources told newsmen that the tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening at about 6:30 p.m., when Mangai was ambushed by suspected hoodlums while returning from a mining site in his vehicle.
The sources said the assailants stabbed the victim in the neck, leaving him with grievous injuries.
He was rushed to Dung Clinic in Bokkos for medical attention but was later confirmed dead.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that could assist in tracking down the perpetrators.
