Rwanda has agreed to allow troops from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to pass through its territory to Tanzania as part of their withdrawal from the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they were deployed to fight rebels.

The SADC force, known as SAMIDRC, was sent to assist Kinshasa’s fight against rebel groups in December 2023, but the bloc announced in mid-March that it would begin a phased withdrawal.
