Gunmen have abducted 15 travellers in the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria.

The victims were kidnapped along the Adoka-Naka Road when two vehicles conveying them were attacked.

According to the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers, six passengers were abducted from one vehicle carrying nine people, while all eight passengers in another vehicle were kidnapped.

The drivers and some passengers who escaped the abduction reported the incident to the police.

The traditional ruler of the area, His Royal Highness Daniel Abomtse, confirmed the incident, stating that two commercial vehicles were hijacked.

However, the Benue State Police Command has yet to confirm the details of the abduction.
