Mining Convoy Attacked in Mali, Highlighting Security Risks

A convoy carrying heavy mining equipment to Allied Gold’s Sadiola mine in Mali was attacked over the weekend, resulting in two large trucks being set ablaze, an excavator being damaged, and two pick-up trucks being stolen.

The attack, which occurred in the Kayes region, points to expanding security risks facing mining companies operating in the Sahel region.
